It is advisable to balance work and rest. In real life, many patients with hypertension are hesitant to work due to concerns about increased blood pressure, which seriously affects their normal lives. Therefore, experts specifically advise: Mild hypertension will not affect a patient's normal work; moderate hypertension, without complications affecting the heart, brain, or kidneys, can handle general work, including moderate-intensity physical labor, but should avoid overexertion and pay attention to balancing work and rest, ideally with a daily lunch break; severe hypertension, i.e., damage to the heart, brain, or kidneys, is best avoided from work. If work is unavoidable due to practical needs, appropriate rest should be taken based on the specific circumstances.

Some professions, such as pilots, drivers, divers, high-altitude or high-temperature work, and heavy physical labor, are unsuitable for patients with hypertension and should ideally be reassigned.

As for the type of exercise and the duration of each activity, it is best to discuss and decide with the attending physician. Never act arbitrarily. Due to the unique nature of hypertension, patients must pay attention to work methods, remaining organized and efficient even when busy; pay attention to using the brain scientifically, balancing work and rest, and maintaining a proper work-rest balance. Take 10-20 minute breaks during work. Additionally, if possible, alternate between different types of work to help the brain recover from fatigue.

Furthermore, since hypertension is often closely related to excessive tension in the cerebral cortex, eliminating this tension is fundamental to hypertension treatment. Of course, not all hypertensive patients need long periods of full-day rest. Instead, patients should incorporate appropriate exercise based on their condition to relax the brain. Elderly patients and those with severe hypertension should especially follow their doctor's guidance when planning activities, avoiding exercise that exceeds the limits permitted by their condition to prevent increased blood pressure or even unpredictable consequences.

Numerous studies and clinical experience show that hypertensive patients should cultivate self-discipline, adjust their mental state regularly, and maintain a cheerful mood. They can appropriately enhance their quality of life by cultivating hobbies such as gardening, birdwatching, fishing, and enjoying music. These activities can significantly relax the cerebral cortex and thus reduce hypertension.

"Health is the foundation of everything." For patients with hypertension, only by controlling their blood pressure and actively participating in appropriate exercise, while maintaining a balance between work and rest, can they achieve both good health and normal work performance.
