Lettuce
Promotes metabolism and lowers blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol. Also known as leaf lettuce, goose lettuce.

Taste and properties: Sweet, cool in nature; enters the stomach and bladder meridians.

Recommended serving size: 100-200 grams per meal.

Nutritional components: Beta-carotene, antioxidants, vitamins B₁, B₆, E, and C, dietary fiber, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, copper, zinc, etc.

Cautions: Be aware of pesticide and fertilizer residues when eating raw. Those with weak spleen and stomach, kidney deficiency with frequent urination, or clear urine should not consume too much.

Practical tips: Lettuce with large leaves and a short overall length is better; lettuce with a bright green color and white stems is fresher.

Loose-leaf lettuce can be wrapped in plastic wrap and refrigerated with the root side down. For head lettuce, remove the core, stuff a damp paper towel into the core, wrap with plastic wrap, and refrigerate. Lettuce is extremely sensitive to ethylene, easily developing reddish-brown spots. When storing, it should be kept away from fruits that easily release ethylene, such as apples, pears, and bananas.
