Dietary Therapy for Hypertension:

(1) Tomato and Celery Drink: 100g celery, 5 slices of onion, 5 cloves of garlic, 5 peeled water chestnuts, 1 tomato, 4 small bowls of water. Simmer over low heat until reduced to 1 small bowl. Drink once before bedtime. Effective after several applications.

(2) Fresh Celery Juice: 250g fresh celery. Wash the celery, blanch in boiling water for 2 minutes, chop and juice. Take 1 small cup twice daily. Lowers blood pressure, calms the liver, soothes, relieves spasms, soothes the stomach, stops vomiting, and promotes urination. Suitable for hypertensive patients with dizziness, headache, facial flushing, and easy excitability.

(3) Celery and Red Date Soup: Besides treating hypertension, this soup can also treat acute jaundice hepatitis, cystitis, etc. Use 200-400g celery and 50-100g red dates each time, simmer in water, and consume in divided doses. If it is not celery season, simmering 150-250 grams of dried celery stalks with red dates in water is also effective.

(4) Fresh Celery and Apple Juice: This can lower blood pressure, calm the liver, soothe the nerves, relieve spasms, and soothe the stomach. It also stops vomiting and promotes urination. Suitable for hypertensive patients with dizziness, headache, facial flushing, and easy excitability. Use 250 grams of fresh celery and 1-2 apples. Blanch the fresh celery in boiling water for 2 minutes, chop it, and juice it with the green apples. Drink one cup twice a day.

(5) Celery Root and Water Chestnut Stew: Commonly used for its blood pressure-lowering, calming, and soothing effects. Use 60 grams of celery root and 6 water chestnuts. Simmer the celery root and water chestnuts in a clay pot to make a soup.

(6) Carrot Juice: This can improve blood vessels, increase coronary blood flow, lower blood lipids, and promote adrenaline synthesis, thus lowering blood pressure, strengthening the heart, and significantly lowering blood sugar. Approximately 1000 ml is needed daily, divided into several servings. Medical research has proven that carrot juice has a significant blood pressure-lowering effect on patients with hypertension.

(7) Green Radish Juice: Chop green radish and extract the juice. Drink 30 ml each time, twice a day, for 10 days as one course of treatment.

(8) Rock Sugar and Vinegar Drink: 100g vinegar, 50g rock sugar. Dissolve the rock sugar in the vinegar. Take 10g each time, three times a day, after meals. It removes blood stasis and promotes new blood circulation, aids digestion and strengthens the stomach, replenishes qi and blood, clears heat and reduces fire. It is suitable for hypertension patients with yin deficiency and blood stasis.

(9) Hawthorn and Rehmannia Drink: 150g hawthorn, 50g rehmannia root, and appropriate amount of white sugar. Wash the hawthorn, remove the seeds, and put it in a stainless steel pot. Cook until tender, add white sugar, cook until done, cool, and store in the refrigerator. Eat anytime, like a snack.

(10) Chrysanthemum, Hawthorn, and Cassia Seed Drink: 10g chrysanthemum, 15g raw hawthorn slices, and 15g cassia seed. Crush the cassia seed, decoct with chrysanthemum and raw hawthorn slices in water, and drink as tea. Sugar can be added as desired. It dispels wind and heat, calms the liver, moistens the intestines, promotes bowel movements, and lowers blood pressure. It is suitable for patients with hypertension and coronary heart disease, and is more effective for symptoms such as yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity, and constipation.
