Laver (Seaweed)

◆ Reduces Blood Viscosity
Also known as seaweed, sweet seaweed, and nori.

Taste and Properties: Sweet and salty in flavor, cold in nature; enters the Lung meridian.

Recommended Consumption: 5-15 grams of dried seaweed per meal.

Nutritional Components:
Protein, fat, laver polysaccharides, choline, crude fiber, carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, ascorbic acid, taurine, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, selenium, iodine, iron, etc.

Laver contains laver polysaccharides, which have a significant anticoagulant effect and can significantly reduce whole blood viscosity and plasma viscosity, and also have a significant hypoglycemic effect. In addition, laver is extremely high in magnesium, which can promote sodium excretion and prevent hypertension. The taurine it contains can lower harmful low-density cholesterol, thereby preventing hyperlipidemia.

Remedies:

1. Hypertension: 15 grams each of laver and cassia seeds, decocted in water and taken orally.

2. Lymph node tuberculosis: 10g of laver, decocted in water and taken orally twice daily; or laver soup with meals.

3. Chronic bronchitis: 15g each of laver and polygala root, 30g of raw oyster, decocted in water and taken orally.

4. Goiter: 30g of laver, 500g of radish, 1 piece of dried tangerine peel, decocted in water and taken orally.

◆ Laver and Sea Cucumber Soup
Main ingredients: 150g sea cucumber, 5g laver.

Auxiliary ingredients: 50g rapeseed.

Seasonings: 5g starch, 4g each of salt and MSG.

Instructions:
1. Blanch the sea cucumber and rapeseed.

2. Add appropriate amount of water to a pot, add sea cucumber and laver, bring to a boil, add salt and MSG, thicken with starch slurry, and add rapeseed before serving.

Seaweed and Yam Rolls:
Main ingredient: 300g yam.

Ingredients: 50g seaweed.

Seasoning: 10ml honey.

Instructions:
1. Wash the yam thoroughly, peel off the skin, and steam for 50 minutes. Mash the steamed yam into a paste, add honey, and let cool.

2. Spread the yam paste on the seaweed on a cutting board, roll it up, and cut into diamond shapes.

3. For hypertension, arteriosclerosis, and chronic bronchitis with cough and asthma: Cook 15g kelp, 100g japonica rice, and 50g lean pork together into a porridge. Season with salt or sugar to taste.
